This itinerary connects them all into a single coherent journey through the ancient, the natural and the colonial layers of the island, with specialist guidance at each site that transforms a visit from sightseeing into understanding.

Bandaranaike International Airport to Negombo - Canal Waterfront Arrival

Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport. Transfer to Negombo. Check in and settle after the journey. Evening walk along the Dutch Canal waterfront. Overnight in Negombo.

Negombo to Anuradhapura - Sacred City by Bicycle

Scenic drive to Anuradhapura. Explore the Sacred City by bicycle: the Sri Maha Bodhi Tree, the Ruwanwelisaya Dagoba, the Abhayagiri Monastery complex and the ancient irrigation reservoirs. Overnight in Anuradhapura.

Anuradhapura to Dambulla via Polonnaruwa - Medieval Capital & Cave Temple Evening

Transfer east to Polonnaruwa. Explore by bicycle: the royal palace complex, the Vatadage relic shrine, the Lankatilaka image house and the extraordinary Gal Vihara rock sculptures. Continue south to Dambulla. Evening visit to Dambulla Cave Temple. Overnight in Dambulla.

Dambulla to Kandy via Sigiriya & Matale - Rock Fortress, Spice Country & Temple Evening

Early morning climb of Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Drive south toward Kandy through Matale spice country. Arrive in Kandy. Evening guided visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Overnight in Kandy.

Kandy - Knuckles Mountain Range Full Day Hike

Full day excursion to the Knuckles Mountain Range – a UNESCO World Heritage biosphere reserve east of Kandy, with guided hiking through cloud forest, waterfalls and indigenous village settlements. Return to Kandy by late afternoon. Overnight in Kandy.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya - Ramboda Falls, Tea Factory & Hill Station Arrival

Scenic mountain drive toward Nuwara Eliya. Stop at Ramboda Falls. Visit the Pedro Tea Factory with guided walkthrough and tasting. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya - Horton Plains, World's End & Baker's Falls

Early morning excursion to Horton Plains National Park – the UNESCO plateau walk to World’s End and Baker’s Falls. Return for a relaxed afternoon. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya to Udawalawe via Ella - Scenic Rail, Ravana Falls & Dry Zone Descent

Optional scenic rail journey from Nanu Oya toward Ella. Stop at Ravana Ella Waterfall. Continue south to Udawalawe through the transitional landscape. Overnight near Udawalawe.

Udawalawe to Sinharaja - Elephant Safari & Rainforest Lodge Arrival

Early morning jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park – one of the world’s most reliable elephant viewing destinations. Continue south and west toward Sinharaja. Overnight near Sinharaja.

Sinharaja - Full Day Rainforest Walk with Specialist Naturalist

Full-day guided exploration of Sinharaja Rain Forest with a specialist naturalist – a UNESCO World Heritage Site home to 22 of Sri Lanka’s 26 endemic bird species. Overnight near Sinharaja.

Sinharaja to Galle - Fort Arrival & Rampart Walk

Transfer west and south to Galle. Explore Galle Fort: the ramparts, the Dutch Reformed Church, the lighthouse and the old residential streets. Overnight in Galle.

Galle - Full Fort Day at Own Pace

Relaxed full day in Galle Fort at your own pace. Optional boat trip into Galle harbour or a short excursion to a nearby beach. Overnight in Galle.

Galle - Leisure, Optional Turtle Excursion & Farewell Dinner

Final leisure day in Galle. Optional sea turtle excursion to Kosgoda. Afternoon at leisure in the fort. Final dinner in one of Galle’s excellent fort restaurants. Overnight in Galle.

Galle to Colombo - Southern Expressway Transfer & Departure

Morning at leisure. Transfer north along the Southern Expressway to the airport. Departure.
