Day Tour 12: Tea Plantation and Hill Country Experience Tour

A journey into Sri Lanka’s celebrated tea country – visiting a working highland estate for a guided leaf-to-cup factory tour, walking among the tea bushes and exploring the cool colonial hill-station town of Nuwara Eliya at 1,800 metres.

Key Highlights

Working Tea Factory Visit

A detailed guided walkthrough of the full tea production process – withering, rolling, oxidising, firing and grading – followed by a curated tasting session with single-origin estate teas.

Tea Estate Walk

A guided walk through the estate rows, with the chance to try hand-plucking alongside a worker and understand the daily rhythm of a working highland plantation.

Ramboda Falls

A 109-metre waterfall visible from the mountain road on the approach to Nuwara Eliya, with a viewing platform above the valley and a small cafe at the base.

Gregory Lake

A scenic reservoir at the centre of Nuwara Eliya with a lakeside promenade and views across the surrounding tea estate hills in the cool highland air.

Nuwara Eliya Town

Sri Lanka’s colonial hill station – a racecourse, an Edwardian post office, mock-Tudor guesthouses and a market selling highland strawberries and handwoven textiles.
